Launch 2008
April 18th

Sun Sport Marine finished up most of the prep work earlier in the week in preparation for us taking delivery. We showed up Friday at 4:00 for the sea trial. We went over the systems and boat functions with the Dealer Mike before heading out the Clinton River and into Lake St. Clair. It was a nice 70 degrees, with a moderate wind and just a slight chop.

Heading Out the Clinton River for first ride.

"Helm Cam" shot

The boat performed great! We hit a top speed of about 43-44 mph. Fast. We did the factory tests on the trim tabs, outdrives, and steering. After a short time we then took Mike back to the docks to drop him off take it "home" ourselves. We got back on the Lake for the short ride to MacRay Harbor about 6:30, and our new slip on Amber. Once there, our friends from Lime Cutter and Sport N' Life were waiting at the docks for us.

Definitely a beautiful day and a fantastic start to the 2008 season.

At the Dock

Our new 50' slip on Amber gives us a bunch of room. This location also has plenty of room behind us to maneuver. There were only a few boats in the water this mid April day. We temporarily tied up, and will wait a while until we decide just exactly where to position the boat in the slip and what lines and cleats to use.

Out for the first "ride" of the season

NOTES:

The buoys were not in the Clinton River yet, so had to follow the chart plotter. The depth sounder, speedometer, and the icemaker were not working when we took delivery.

Saturday we spent time putting things away and organizing.

Sunday we took the Lime Cutter and Sport N' Life crews out for a short ride on the Lake.
